‘SPIES’ Gifted and Talented Summer School
Your talk

Bring your pupils to a day of free activities for Gifted and Talented Summer Schools based around the subject of espionage.

The objective of the day is for pupils to use their skills in problem solving, code breaking, compass reading, role playing and ICT in order to discover the true location of the 1944 allied invasion of Europe. Throughout the day pupils will be given false information about actual dummy operations and must use knowledge gained from their visit in order to separate fact from fiction!

The day is suitable for pupils from year 6 and up. For more information or to request a pack contact us on 020 7766 0130/0132 or email cwr-edu@iwm.org.uk.

The Clore Education Centre

The Clore Education Suite
The Clore Education Suite
Our Learning area was equipped with a generous donation from the Clore Duffield Foundation.  It enables us to offer Video Conferencing and IT sessions as well as talks and handling workshops

The Learning Department

The Learning department consists of four members of staff.  Between us, we focus on ‘formal’ sessions with schools and other groups, while our Community and Outreach Officer also works to involve local residents and family groups in their museum.

Our aim is to offer a flexible and responsive service to everyone who would like to bring a group to the Museum, and to help and support people who want to know more about the life and achievements of Winston Churchill, the Home Front and the Second World War.

You may choose any of the sessions which we offer: there are no set days for specific talks or workshops.  We have, however, put on each page those that we think particularly suitable for that audience

Timings

Exploring the War Rooms takes between 45 and 60 minutes. Looking around the Churchill Museum takes about an hour.  Learning sessions last at least 45 minutes, and can be for a half or whole day:  you need to decide how long you wish your group to spend here as well as what you would like to do!

The Learning programme is only available on weekdays.  For weekend and Bank Holiday activities, please see the families section.
